The pillow housing is made of cast iron, stainless steel or composite materials, including composite materials used in THE SKF food production line, and can accommodate at least the same dynamic and static loads as the embedded bearings.They can be used where peak loads or variable axial loads occur.

Maximum load of pressurized steel housing

The pressed steel housing has a lower load bearing capacity than the inserted bearings they combine.

The allowable radial shell loads are listed in the technical specification (data sheet) for each product.

The axial load shall not exceed 20% of the allowable radial load.

A load parallel to the support surface

When the load acting on the shell is between 55 and 120 degrees (Figure 1), one of the following precautions should be taken:

A stop should be set in the direction of the load.

Cast iron shells can be tenoned on the supporting surface.
