SKF has joined the RE 100 Green Initiative

Gothenburg, 23 September 2020 - SKF is proud to announce that it has joined the RE 100 Green Initiative as part of its goal to achieve carbon neutral global manufacturing operations by 2030.

RE 100 is a global collaborative initiative that unites the world's most influential companies to commit to 100% renewable electricity.

Kent Viitanen, President of Bearing Operations, said: "Being carbon neutral by 2030 is part of SKF's overall strategy.This is our responsibility and we believe that this transformation will create a long-term competitive advantage for SKF and SKF customers.We will achieve this by increasing the energy and material efficiency of our businesses and increasing the amount of electricity purchased from renewable sources or the group's own renewable energy generation.Our target of 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030 or earlier is fully aligned with the RE 100 plan and action."

Mr Sam Kimmins, global director of the RE 100 programme at the Climate group, said: "We welcome SKF to the RE 100 initiative.By using renewable power in its global business operations, SKF has demonstrated its strong commitment to tackling climate change, while making it a model for companies using renewable power.We hope to see more industrial enterprises follow in their footsteps and join us."
